Suzuki Flute Lessons

What is the Suzuki Method?:  Dr. Shinichi Suzuki of Matsumoto, Japan first developed the Suzuki Method with the idea that Every child can learn.  The Suzuki method is kept alive today with that idea still in mind, while focusing on teaching music as a language through repetition, listening, and parent involvement.  Although the method was originally developed for children of a younger age, time has proven that it is an extremely effective method for all ages and abilities.  To learn more about the Suzuki Method please visit the Suzuki Association of the Americas web site.

Mission Statement:  At the Evergreen Suzuki Flute Studio our mission is to provide the highest quality flute lessons, tailor each lesson to meet that students individual learning needs, and have fun at the same time.

About the Evergreen Suzuki Flute Studio and private lessons:  The Evergreen Suzuki Flute Studio was founded by David Zagelow in 2003 and is located in Bellingham, Washington.  The studio is extremely active in the community and students are encouraged to perform as often as possible.  Not only do students get weekly private lessons when they sign up with the Evergreen Suzuki Flute Studio but they also get monthly group lessons, several performing opportunities during the year, and the opportunity to perform in small groups and ensembles.  The atmosphere of the studio is kept non-competitive and focuses on a fun yet high level of learning.  Flute lessons are open to students as young as 4 up through adults.

Free Trial Lesson:  If you are interested in flute lessons with the Evergreen Suzuki Flute Studio you can always try a free 30-minute trial lesson.  All you need to do is contact David Zagelow by phone: 360-220-4628 or email: flute@evergreenmusicstudios.com.

Get close attention from some of the most experienced Suzuki teachers

Who Can Attend: All flute and harp players are welcome at the Evergreen Suzuki Institute.  Although our focus is on Suzuki repertoire you do not have to be a Suzuki student to attend.

Flute & Harp Activities: Wow!  Flute and harp, what a great combination.  If you haven’t experienced a flute and harp ensemble yet then get ready and come join us.  We will be offering group classes, performance classes, ensemble classes, and master classes during the Institute.  With the energetic faculty that we have lined up, fun is in every class.  Each evening  we will also hold a fire side performance where you never know what exciting new music, skit, or story you might hear.  On the last day we will hold a final concert where friends and family are welcome to attend.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery while making music and new friends

Other activities: The Firs Mt. Baker Chalet sits at 4,000 ft. above sea level.  The high altitude forest that surrounds the area has endless trails for hiking and exploring.  Each day we will have an optional wilderness hike.  For those who are artistic, or not so artistic but want to have fun, we will have an arts and crafts class taught by Thirza Zagelow.  The chalet also has billiards, foosball, a hot tub, and a large open fireplace.

Room and board: Room and board is included in the cost for the institute, which is 4 nights, 5 days, and 13 Meals.  The Firs Mt. Baker Chalet is built with the top two floors in a dormitory style setting and can house up to 95 people.

Other Information: All parents are encouraged to accompany their child/children.  For children under the age of 13 an accompanying parent is required.  Anyone attending the Evergreen Suzuki Institute must also fill out a medical release form and have proof of medical insurance before attending the Institute.  If under the age of 18 a parent or legal guardian must sign the form.  You can download the medical release form online at www.evergreenmusicstudios.com or one can be mailed to you.
